Indian Creek Trail Access #364A
Route: Roads End, Indian Creek Access, and Pine Creek Trails
From Seneca drive east on Forest Service Road 16 for approximately 15 miles to Forest Service Road 1640. Turn left and drive north on Forest Service Road 1640 for about 11 miles to the Road End Trailhead at a sharp right turn.
Hike 1.2 miles northwest on the Roads End Trail (old roadbed) to the "Roads End" landmark, a 3-way intersection with the Pine Creek Trail 201 leading west and the Onion Creek Trail 368 leading north towards Strawberry Mountain. This junction overlooks the Indian Creek Basin which was burned in the Wildcat Fire of 1996.
Follow the Pine Creek Trail west for 0.3 mile, then turn right onto the Indian Creek Access Trail 364A and drop steeply down into Indian Creek Basin. The map indicates a junction with the Indian Creek Trail 364 but this has been obscured by brush and downed timber. Continue on the trail to climb up to regain the Pine Creek Trail after 1.1 miles. An alternative to dropping into and climbing out of Indian Creek Basin would be to stay on Pine Creek Trail for 2.4 miles to this point.
Continue on Pine Creek Trail west for about 1.4 miles to a saddle directly east of Indian Creek Butte. Follow the trail down from this saddle a short distance, then leave the trail to scramble up to reach a saddle facing a cliff. Traverse left (west) upward around this cliff to reach the summit ridge and follow it to the summit.
